Protecting the privacy of participants and parents is our top priority. Please see below for SPARK’s Statement of Privacy, which applies to usage of the SPARK website as well as the data collected in SPARK studies. Please note that this is not a consent form; you will be guided through a consent process before the start of each study.
Collection of Personal Information
SPARK does not collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. Please note that you may be required to provide personal information to be eligible to participate in studies on the SPARK website. These include: (a) registering for an account on our site; (b) completing surveys as part of our studies.
Use of Personal Information
We will use your information for research purposes only, including to inform you of future opportunities to participate in SPARK research. No third-party organizations will ever gain access to this information, and it will never be used for commercial purposes.
Automatically Collected Information
Information about your computer’s hardware and software may be automatically collected by the site. This information may include: your IP address, browser type, domain name, access times and website addresses. We take reasonable steps to protect the Personal Information provided to us from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no information sent through the Internet or e-mail is ever fully safe or error free. In particular, e-mail sent to or from our lab account may not be secure. In the event that personal information is compromised as a breach of security, we will quickly notify users in compliance with the law.
The SPARK system or members of the Hartley Lab research team may contact you via email when studies are available for you or your children. If you would like to stop receiving these emails, you may ‘opt out’ of study participation.
